| Return to Main Menu In the Darkness I find You Andrea Rudolph When life is easy, I turn from You, Divine One. I take fore-granted the beauty that surrounds me in my children and the crickets whose chorus fills the autumn nights with music and winds of change. I forget to listen for the still, small voice within in favor of the distractions of daily life and the tides of emotion that ebb and flow with the pressures of family and work. Yet it’s in the darkness that I search for You. I wonder, “Where are You? How could You let there be pain and suffering in the world – in my world, in my heart?” I look for You as a sailor scans the water for a distant shore – a lighthouse rising above the horizon, its light casting a halo into the sky above. My faith wavers during these winters of my soul. I look to the shadowy corners for answers, for healing. Sometimes the medicine of prayer renews my spirit - like skin that grows over an open wound. But holding a microscope to pain and imperfection mostly leaves me begging for mercy and relief. It’s in these times of darkness, when ice clings to bare trees stripped of vanity and shelter, that I bend to Your will. Help me to withstand the pain of my humanness, of self-examination. Let the snow be a blanket of purity that reflects light and melts with the morning sun. Help me remember to find You in the twinkling stars and crystal flakes. Let the darkness show Your bright Light blazing in the distance, leading me forward and giving me hope. Shine a light on the dark corners of my soul, strip away what is old, tired or broken. Then the shadows will disappear, the snow melt and new seeds will emerge with Spring. May Your Light shine in the darkness of our hearts and the hearts of all humankind. May Your love and forgiveness warm our souls, heal our pain and renew our commitment to do Your will. Shed a light on our humanity, Merciful One, and remind us of the beauty of who we are. Guide our ways that forgiveness and love will fill our hearts when Spring comes. May this be God’s Will. Amen Return to Main Menu |
